Children’s Summer Reading Rules

Children’s Summer Reading Program 2017

Each child will receive a book bag.  Inside is a sheet to write down the titles of the books read, a bookmark.

Each child needs to sign the sheet for his or her appropriate age:

Read-to-Me:  Babies through children entering kindergartners ( or any children who are not able to read)

should have 20 books read to them.

Elementary: Children entering  1st through 6th grades should read 20 books (or 10 books, each 150 or more pages).

Teens: Teens entering 7th through 12th graders should read 10 books each book 150 pages or more.

When a child has read the required number of books, he or she will receive a prize, a certificate, and his or her name will be put in a drawing for a bicycle.  A child may read another 20 books for an additional prize.  Each name will only be entered once for the bicycle drawing.  Each teen completing the program will have his/her name entered into a drawing for a gift card.

Books read for the Summer Reading Program must be checked out from the Norton Public Library. However, books read on an e-reader ( from Sunflower) are acceptable.

The children have from May 18th  – August 10th to read the required number of books.

Prize drawings will take place on Monday, August 14th. Prizes will be picked up and pictures taken on Thursday, August 17th.
